Agent Ready Score
Quick answer
What is an Agent Ready Score?
Agent Ready Score is AutoSEO’s weighted 0–100 heuristic score for selected homepage content and discovery checks. It does not measure AI citations, rankings, indexing, or actual crawler visits. Use the individual findings to decide what deserves review.
Review findings before changing your site
A missing pattern is a prompt for review, not proof that your content cannot appear in an AI answer. A homepage may not need Article or FAQ markup, and a short answer may fully meet its purpose. Keep factual content and appropriate page structure ahead of increasing a tool score.
Google’s AI search features follow ordinary Search eligibility and SEO practices. They do not require special AI files or schema. Check important pages in Search Console and verify that your markup matches visible content.
What the audit examines
- Crawler rules — selected robots.txt rules for the audited path. Training controls and search controls have different purposes; a rule match does not prove network access.
- Optional llms.txt — whether the discovery file was found, without testing its accuracy or use by an AI service.
- Structured-data patterns — detected entity, Article and FAQ types, without complete schema validation or feature eligibility testing.
- Content patterns — question headings, lists or tables, semantic elements, author/date signals and a tool-specific word-count threshold. These are heuristics, not universal citation requirements.
Use the badge as a saved audit summary
A successful audit saves a score for the domain. The SVG badge reads that stored score when loaded or refreshed; it does not continuously monitor the site. Re-run the audit after changes. A shared link starts a new audit, so its result may differ from an earlier score.
The report flags unavailable crawler evidence and excludes it from the weighted score. The current badge does not display that coverage limitation, so share the report context alongside the number.
Where this data comes from
The server requests an audit of the HTTPS homepage and reads robots.txt and optional llms.txt. The AEO engine evaluates ten checks with different weights; warnings may receive partial credit. The result is a weighted percentage, not the percentage of checks passed. If robots.txt evidence is unavailable, that check is excluded from the score and disclosed in the report. This is a limited page scan, not a whole-site crawl, measured citation study, full structured-data validation, or browser performance test.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good Agent Ready Score?
There is no validated score threshold for AI citations. A higher number means more of this tool’s weighted patterns passed. Read the findings, confirm that they apply to the page, and keep any unavailable evidence in view.
Does being 'agent ready' improve Google rankings?
The score is not a Google ranking factor and does not predict a ranking change. Review crawlability, helpful content and factual markup on their own merits, then measure actual search performance separately.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?
llms.txt is an optional convention for presenting site information and selected links to language-model tools. Google does not require an AI text file for its AI search features. Finding the file does not establish that a service reads it or will cite your pages.
Should I block or allow AI crawlers?
Choose policies by crawler purpose and your business requirements. GPTBot is a training crawler; OAI-SearchBot supports ChatGPT search. Their controls are separate. Googlebot controls crawling for Google Search, including its AI features; Google-Extended covers other uses. Preserve intentional training restrictions when reviewing search access.
How does the embeddable badge work?
After the audit and score save succeed, copy the HTML snippet into a page that supports HTML. The badge loads the latest stored score and revalidates when refreshed. Storage failures return an unavailable badge rather than claiming the domain has never been scored. The number is a heuristic summary, not a citation certificate.
How is this different from an SEO audit?
This tool presents selected AEO heuristics from the public audit. An SEO review also needs evidence about indexing, canonical URLs, redirects, internal links, content intent and performance. Neither a checklist score nor a badge proves that a search or AI service will show your page.
